Clinical Supervision
Clinical Supervision provides an opportunity for health care professionals to be supported in, and reflect on, their practice. Well-supported practitioners provide quality service to their patients/clients.
The supervisor and supervisee enter into a voluntary formal contract to meet regularly in protected time. The focus is always primarily to support the person, and not necessarily focusing on the practice.

Some of the benefits of Supervision include:
-
Development of practice (skills and strategies)
-
Personal development through reflection on cases, decisions and choices
-
Opportunity to receive feedback about actions/approaches/behaviour
-
Feel supported as a person and professional
-
Opportunity to discuss feelings and responses to work
-
Proactively consider career choices
Supervision works best when it is driven by the supervisee.
Some topics suitable for Supervision include:
-
Reflecting on specific incidents
-
Broadly overviewing past, present or future practice or goals
-
Care of a specific client/patient
-
Areas of responsibility in your workload
-
Stress/pressures influencing your work
-
Your development within your work
